Finding a balance between black and white in the powder room can be a tricky affair at the best of times, and a good segue between the two is to use the different shades of gray on offer. Gray is undoubtedly the hot neutral of this decade, and its ‘power’ only seems to grow with each passing season. Giving the powder room a gray tint while embracing the black and white look is a great way to combine both trendy and timeless elements in a seamless fashion.
The perception that wallpaper in the powder room is only useful when you want to usher in bold pattern and bright colors is pretty far off from reality. Even those wanting a stylish and sophisticated black and white backdrop for the powder room can use wallpaper that brings plenty of pattern and personality to the limited space without actually disturbing the color scheme. Whether it is simple stripes or playful patterns inspired by the sights and sounds of nature, wallpaper in black and white is as much of a showstopper as those in striking shades.
We start off our spotlight on trendy bathroom mirrors with a series that moves away from the usual and goes down a different geometric path. Instead of those mundane mirrors with simple, straight lines, try out a more dashing frame that makes bold visual impact even while easily blending in with the modern or contemporary style of your bathroom. Hexagonal and octagonal-framed mirrors are currently a trend and are making their way into bathrooms across the world. If you feel that these geo shapes are a bit too tacky, then opt for the simple round mirror – a classic that never fails.
This type of checkered pattern offers a lot of dynamic within a monochrome space. The diagonal shapes give the illusion of spaciousness and even the smallest bathrooms seem like they extend further than they actually do. If you are in love with monochrome bathrooms but worry about them becoming too monotone, a diagonal checkered pattern will not let you down!
Powder rooms are usually small, with the ultra-tiny ones barely having enough space for a person to squeeze in and make a proper turn inside! But we have been lucky enough to stumble upon a few powder rooms that are larger than some of the more modest bathrooms we have come across! If you are blessed with that amount of space, feel free to go more ornate with your Victorian overhaul. 3D wall paintings and wall art are always welcome here as long as they fit in with the broader, more classical theme, and bright colors can be used more freely inside these larger spaces.
If you want your bathroom to be decorated in light tones, but would still like your vanity to stand out, choose a cream colored interior and pair it with a bright white vessel sink for the effect of gentle contrast.
