As it is in life, so it is in home decor: there’s more than just black and white, dark and light. There are many shades in between and sometimes they are the perfect piece to capture the balance. Often decorated with creative patterns, the vessel sinks in-between will bring a completely unique element to your bathroom.
Powder rooms are usually small, with the ultra-tiny ones barely having enough space for a person to squeeze in and make a proper turn inside! But we have been lucky enough to stumble upon a few powder rooms that are larger than some of the more modest bathrooms we have come across! If you are blessed with that amount of space, feel free to go more ornate with your Victorian overhaul. 3D wall paintings and wall art are always welcome here as long as they fit in with the broader, more classical theme, and bright colors can be used more freely inside these larger spaces.
Finding a balance between black and white in the powder room can be a tricky affair at the best of times, and a good segue between the two is to use the different shades of gray on offer. Gray is undoubtedly the hot neutral of this decade, and its ‘power’ only seems to grow with each passing season. Giving the powder room a gray tint while embracing the black and white look is a great way to combine both trendy and timeless elements in a seamless fashion.
Maybe your bathroom already looks rustic and old-fashioned, but maybe it’s more on the modern side. Either way, a copper tub is a good choice! It will either perfectly match the rest of the rustic interior or be that one vintage element that feels like a soul of the room!
How smart is it to give an already ‘limited’ room a color scheme anchored in black and white? The answer to that question would be ‘very smart’, if you can get the balance between the two hues right and the lighting spot on. No matter what color you use in the powder room, poor lighting can give this small space a dark and dreary look. This could very well start you off on a cycle of constant redecorating and repainting without ever realizing that the real issue at hand is poor lighting. A sparkling chandelier coupled with clever ambient lighting is the ideal way forward in the black and white powder room.
If you want your bathroom to be decorated in light tones, but would still like your vanity to stand out, choose a cream colored interior and pair it with a bright white vessel sink for the effect of gentle contrast.
